Reducing reoffending –
the role of the Church and Christian based voluntary groups

Conference Room, Voluntary Action Islington, 200a Pentonville Road, London N1 9JP

The Government has set out a dynamic new path for the criminal justice system, placing the objective of reducing the UK’s poor record in reoffending at the heart of its plans. However, the policy proposals have said little on the role of faith as a catalyst for rehabilitation and offered little in support of faith organisations contribution in this area.

For BTEG this is of particular interest in relation to BAME offenders because of the increasing influence of Christianity amongst BAME communities.

BTEG with Way4ward Solutions is hosting this event to bring together Churches, Christian-based community groups, prison chaplains and staff, civil servants, charitable trusts, private sector providers, leaders in the area of offender management and ex-offenders/offenders to explore the role of the Christian faith and Christian based community groups in supporting the government’s objective of reducing reoffending.
